A series of smoothly flowing postures that synchronise with the breath, creating a fluid form of yoga that becomes a graceful dance with spirit. Depending on the level, it can be gentle or dynamic & is often practiced to the backdrop of music. At times challenging it is known for its strengthening & toning qualities but more importantly, it focuses the mind-body connection & invites you on a journey inward.
Hatha yoga uses physical alignment & breathing control to achieve an equilibrium between the mind, body & emotions. A Hatha yoga class will typically involve a set of physical postures (asana) & breathing techniques (pranayama), practiced more slowly & with more static posture holds than a Vinyasa flow class. The resulting harmony manifests itself as physical strength, physiological health & emotional wellbeing.
Yin yoga is a slow & deeply meditative practice that cultivates a deep sense of awareness through the release of stress held in the mind & body. Yin focuses on releasing the connective tissues of the body (tendons, ligaments & fascia) by holding poses for longer periods, allowing total relaxation as you move into into a deep space of stillness, patience and quiet.
Yin Yang yoga is a practice that balances the slow pace & feminine energy of Yin yoga with the dynamism & fire of traditional Yang yoga (Ashtanga). The energies of yin & yang both polarise & complement each other & one cannot exist without the other. In Yin Yang yoga both types of yoga are utilised to provide the polarity & balance of both a physical and spiritual practice.
Evidence shows that yoga can greatly increase a woman’s fertility. Specific postures stimulate the energy flow & improve circulation to the reproductive organs & unblock & strengthen pathways which support the reproductive system. On a deeper level yoga enhances a sense of wellbeing, reducing the stress & anxiety that can play a major role in many cases of infertility.
